LIVE UPDATES: Country Music Awards in Nashville on ABC7
NASHVILLE (ABC7) — ABC 7’s Kidd O’Shea is in Nashville for the 51st Annual Country Music Association Awards that airs live tonight at 8 PM on channel 7.

This year’s CMA awards will be the first time that country music stars have come together since the Las Vegas massacre.
“There’s no ignorning what we’ve been through in country music and in America this year,” singer Brad Paisley says.
Paisley is hosting the 51st annual award show alongside Carrie Underwood for the tenth year in a row.
According to Paisley, he says that he thinks the show this year has a good mix between lifting people’s spirits amongst tradgedy, while also celebrating music.
Underwood and Paisley started the show with words about the victims of recent mass shootings, including the Las Vegas Massacre, Charleston, an Sutherland Springs.
The first two stars to take home awards Wednesday night were Keith Urban and Taylor Swift for ‘Single of the Year’ and ‘Song of the Year.’ Though, the music group Little Big Town accepted the award on Swift’s behalf, since she could not attend and they perform they song she wrote.
Next up in the line of winners were Jon Pardi for ‘New Artist of the Year’ and Chris Stapleton for ‘Album of the Year.’
The award for ‘Vocal Group of the Year’ went to Little Big Town, and ‘Female Vocalist of the Year’ to Miranda Lambert.
Chris Stapleton claimed the title of ‘Male Vocalist of the Year,’ and Garth Brooks took home the award for ‘Entertainer of the Year.’
